Meet our founder

I created Black Boy Diary as a way to share the things that make up my Diary as a Black man, through the lens of experiences, the lessons, the struggles, and the dreams that have shaped me. But more than that, it’s about how I wanted to write the story of the future I want to see. One that puts Black and Brown creatives, leaders and innovators at the forefront. Growing up, I saw firsthand how the world wasn’t built for us, how opportunities felt limited, how resources weren’t always there, and how too many people that looked like me were forced to shrink themselves into a box due to lack of resources. But I also saw something else, resilience. I saw the ways we are able to lift each other up, the ways we found ways to thrive even when the odds were stacked against us. And I knew that If I wanted real change, Black Boy Diary had to be the ones to create it. That’s what Black Boy Diary is. It’s service, advocacy, and inspiration. It’s about sharing our stories and making sure the next generation is left with something greater. Through mentorship, education, and community-driven action, we’re not just fighting for a better future, we’re writing it ourselves. This isn’t just an organization. It’s a movement. A space where Black and Brown voices are heard, supported, and empowered. A place where we build each other up, where we remind ourselves that we are more than statistics, more than our greatset struggles, we are storytellers, change makers, and leaders. This may have started as my diary, but it’s now forever ours. Let’s write something powerful together. - T .Lewis
